Camillia Sanes-Monet NALIPster's Shorts Airing on SiTV, Playing in Festivals
NALIP member Camillia Sanes-Monet (LPA 2009) produced the short film The Winged Man, written by Jose Rivera (Oscar nominated for The Motorcycle Diaries) and starring Anna Ortiz (Ugly Betty). The short is airing through out the month of August on SiTV, and Camilla, Jose and director Marya Mazor were all interviewed on-camera by the network. (continue reading)

Bill Pullman, John Leguizamo and Bobby Cannavale are among the actors attached to topline a slate of Esperanza Prods. features being unveiled at the AFM.
Pullman and Leguizamo are attached to star in "Celestina," the surreal tale of a pregnant woman's search for the father of her child. Walter Salles is exec producing the project, set to be directed by his Oscar-winning "Motorcycle Diaries" scribe Jose Rivera. (continue reading)

AN "ON THE SET" PRODUCTION DIARY
Reporting from Location for the Esperanza Productions film, "Apples"
5:45am: I'm picked up by Anna Starzyk, a production assistant for the Esperanza Production's short, "Apples." Anna tells me she was an editor, but didn't enjoy "sitting in a dark room with little personal contact." She decided to "go back to square one," focusing on location work. "I'm happy to have PA jobs such as this, to get experience." Unable to get into the parking structure at Hollywood Production Center, the day's first location, I offer to run around the building. I find a security guard who gets us in. We're closely followed by production designer Diane Hanamoto and the art department team. To my surprise, the lighting team has already begun setting up. Indie filmmaker Jason Cuadrado, whose short film MONSTROUS NATURE is currently winning accolades in the festival circuit and whose feature TALES FROM THE DEAD hits DVD from Seminal Films March 9, recently got in touch with the scoop and a few early photos (seen after the jump) from his latest movie, DARK DESERT HIGHWAY. A stylistic throwback, HIGHWAY is a gloomy thriller about a group of friends traveling cross-country who become targets of a faceless, psychotic sniper. (continue reading)
